  1. Just saw you clip following the governors budget proposal, you were spot on. And, between us girls you also looked great behind Speaker Prieto.

  2. Dear Mrs. Sumter,

I am writing in response to a phone bank call regarding the on-going Republican effort in the US Congress to overturn the Affordable Care Act.

I urge you to do what you can at the local and state level to resist this travesty. The incoherent and contradictory proposals by the national GOP do not offer any improvement to the outlook for American health care consumers. They seem to be nothing but a fig leaf to lend cover for a hastily and clumsily concocted attempt to deliver yet another massive tax cut to the obscenely rich that will result in genuine harm to a great many people.

Despite the barrage of lies by GOP politicians and conservative media, the ACA has been the most successful program to “promote the general welfare” (as endorsed by the Constitution) in this century. Not only have there been unprecedented increases in enrollment in health insurance programs, people now enjoy the benefits of actual health care and relief from fear of untreated diseases for themselves and their families – and friends.

Other sequellae have been positive: health-related bankruptcies (the chief cause in the US) have declined over 50% in the last six years. Bankruptcy lawyers are now checking ‘help wanted’ ads for honest employment.

    Please do your best.

    1. Dear Mr. Wilson

Thank you for sharing your insights on the Affordable Care Act. I share your concerns and I am watching Congress’ action on this matter very closely. I have a career in healthcare that spans over 15 years and I have been a proponent for access to adequate healthcare for all. I will continue to do what I have been doing and more. I encourage you to contact the Congressional delegation to share your concerns. They can impact this issue directly. Again, thank you and please continue to share your concerns and/or suggestions.
